The Sumerians were an ancient civilization living in Mesopotamia. Around 3000 BC, they began using copper to make jewelry such as necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.
Copper jewelry was often decorated with geometric patterns. The use of copper jewelry continued throughout the Bronze Age and was also popular during the Iron Age (1200-500 BC). Copper jewelry was also widely used in the Roman Empire and the Byzantine Empire.
Silver plating of copper is a technique used to give copper an aesthetic appearance as well as to prevent oxidation. Silver plating helps copper retain its shine and color and also gives the product a more valuable appearance.
