Urartu7
The cameo technique on this necklace is hand-carved in red carnelian and hand-molded in sterling silver, featuring a silver chain.
The Urartu Kingdom thrived in Eastern Anatolia from the 9th to the 6th century BC. The Urartians placed significant importance on amulets, which they believed offered various forms of support. Animal figures such as lions, bulls, and eagles were commonly used in Urartian amulets, symbolizing strength and bravery. Images of Urartian deities like Haldi, Teisheba, and Shivini were also included, reflecting their cultural values.
Amulets have held a meaningful role in daily life, serving as symbols of various aspirations. They were thought to provide reassurance and a sense of connection to their wearers. From ancient times to today, people have carried these items for inspiration and comfort.
